The Paradox of the Prankster

My Thursday Mantra -- Postcard From The Ridge Top Edition
Back to Full Blog

"Long's Peak At Dawn" watercolor by Ugljesa Janjic.

Late lazy Summer nights
I hear the faint whispers
Autumnal pitter patters
By the Dawn's early light
Mid-August monsoons fierce
Every evening's a light show
Thunder roars through the Valley
And up on this ridge top
The hairs on my arms stand tall
Soon the cloudburst gets spent
My toes are feeling frosty
Better throw on a blanket
And leave the windows open
Some great sleeping weather
The only thing better
Would be if you were here

Good Morning ^BELLE^!

I hope your Thursday is off to a rip roaring start.

We may not get out of the 60's on Friday and it's way below normal today too. I may have to get the fireplace going, it needs a good test before the snow flies.

Wishing you the best each and everyday,
Prank

*shakes head sadly*
Snow Pranky?
I drove through snow in NY this week, I blogged on it.
The difference is you write about it lovingly and I see it as a preview for winter. *shivers*
Yuck!

Yep, Ron, a Winter wonderland is never far from my door.

And while I am disappointed in the Rockies on the field this year, I am glad that the D-backs are in the hunt for the NL West. Anybody but the Dodgers or Giants!

I do love the snow, WP, but only the Rocky Mountain powder variety. Light and fluffy and crunchy when you walk on it, like popcorn.

Prank,

Send some of that cool weather this way. It's been so hot, even the fish are making their way to the shade provided by the cypress trees along the lakeside.

Have a great weekend!

OK, Big Al, an order of Rocky Mountain coolness is heading your way!

It was over a 100 degrees just a few short weeks ago and I bet we got some more Summer left, but the nearby snow capped peaks look more like October right now...

Cheers,
Prank

Prank,

I don't like what I am seeing off of the North balcony.

I expect you to remedy this nonsensical weather at once. This is not an option for you, my Human, it is a requirement. I expect compliance. Do you understand? You don't want to spend another weekend in the therapy chamber with Doc Sam do you?

There's nothing like the fall coming in...a cool breeze...throwing on a blanket to keep the chill off...

It's supposed to be around 90 here so please send some of that cooler weather this way!

Have a great weekend, Prank.

I personally love when everything turns crisp and gray! I love being cozy with the one I love and I can't help but feel more romantic during the chilly months b/c I want to be close to someone

Prank:

I'll sleep on the couch.

A little chill in the air does make for better sleeping weather.

Not to worry, Whit, I have a cozy guest room here at the Palace set up for distinguished visitors such as yourself and Mrs. Whittlings. No need for anyone to sleep on the sofa.

I couldn't agree more. I've always enjoyed all 4 seasons, Avree. Although I am partial to Summer, but I think the crisp Fall mornings are my absolute favorites. Thanks for stopping by and visiting and may your weekend be a lovely one.

Fall makes a full blown appearance out this way this weekend, Miss Lou. I can't remember an August day, much less many days, where we see 50-something as the high temperature. Woogie's coat is off the hook already, so maybe Ma Nature has a few more surprises up her sleeve?

ZF,

You are always welcome at the Palace. Your wonderful sense of humor, fascinating taste in music and overall goodness has made you one of my favorite bloggers over the past few years. I know the Chef bidness is grueling, but what a way to express your creativity. Hopefully, I can make it back to FLA and maybe get the chance to say Hi and share a cool beverage or three.

Thanks for stopping and take it easy!

SAME HERE! I always get so antsy for summer and actually don't like the Spring b/c I just want summer but I don't know what it is about fall...it wasn't until after I graduated that I grew partial to the fall atmosphere, before it meant back to school so I hated EVERYTHING about fall. But now I appreciate the smells of a wood burning stove, the crunchy and colored leaves, the corn stock, pumpkin and indian corn decorated front stoops, the color of the sky that I just want to capture, it really is a harvest of color and sensations that no other season seems to render me as happy and peaceful, well besides Christmas time, but that in and of itself is a time where I feel community peace which I wish we could carry throughout all year Although I will admit I feel a boost of moral overall in the summer months when people can enjoy the GREAT outdoors...so you know what? I have to agree that all four seasons are just marvelous and I wouldn't change a thing
