The Paradox of the Prankster

My Saturday Mantra -- Can You Hear Me Now Edition
Back to Full Blog

Crunchy pajama chutney
Peeling back from my mouse
Supersonic tee shirts
Replacing all these curly fries
Don't you stop and wonder
Can you believe your eyes

Birdies on the high wire
Taking in the idiot show
Hundred thousand Grandpas
No longer wanna supersize
Don't you stop and wonder
Can you believe your eyes

You have been chosen
You have been chosen
You have been chosen
Do you know what to do

You have been chosen
You have been chosen
You have been chosen
Do you have any clue

That Savior on the side road
Silences the TVs in your mind
Bloody oil abundance
Thrashing wild as it dies
Don't you stop and wonder
Can you believe your eyes

New dinosaurs collapsing
On top of old ones in the pile
Better stack'em high by Tuesday
Before the next load arrives
Don't you stop and wonder
Can you believe your eyes

You have been chosen
You have been chosen
You have been chosen
Do you know what to do

You have been chosen
You have been chosen
You have been chosen
Do you have any clue

Amazing Journey/Sparks
The Who ~ Houston, Texas ~ 20 November 1975

Deaf dumb and blind boy
He's in a quiet vibration land
Strange as it seems his musical dreams
Ain't quite so bad

Ten years old
With thoughts as bold as thought can be
Loving life and becoming wise
In simplicity

Sickness will surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know

A vague haze of delerium
Creeps up on me
All at once a tall stranger I suddenly see
He's dressed in a silver sparked
Glittering gown
And His golden beard flows
Nearly down to the ground

Nothing to say and nothing to hear
And nothing to see
Each sensation makes a note in my symphony

Sickness will surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know

His eyes are the eyes that
Transmit all they know
Sparkle warm crystalline glances to show
That he is your leader
And he is your guide
On the amazing journey together you'll ride

That must have been one of those side B records or one on a LP album that got skipped over by me. I always loved Who. Hope you are havin' a rockin' weekend, Prank!

Bonjour Bella!

Amazing Journey and Sparks was first released on the "Tommy" album from 1969.

There's a nice live version on the lp "Live At Leeds" from 1970, but get the remastered double disk version instead of the single disk "original" version. You won't be sorry, the double disk is the whole live show, all cleaned up sonicalogically and they play all of the "Tommy" album live in addition to the early hits.

I also have a great Dutch bootleg radio broadcast from the 1st time Tommy was played outside of England in Amsterdam in 1969. That one's pretty fine too.

Have a sweet weekend.

Ciao, Bella!

One of my favorites, this is a poem I can relate to in all aspects. You tell an amazing story with your words Pranky!

I am honored whenever anyone takes the time to comment on my little ditties, WP. This one jumped out after the second cup of coffee this morning, I couldn't eat breakfast until it got done.

I don't why that happens but I'm glad it does.

Happy Trails to you, Matt and the girls and everybody by the Bay.

And this all affects me how, Prank?

Keep the south balcony door open this afternoon, I will be in and out for naps and snacks. Not optional, my Human, consider this the day's standing orders until I inform you otherwise.

Remember, Prankster, the all seeing Cat's Eye never blinks,

I hope you are having a fine Friday, Miss Lou, and that the floodwaters are far from your door. Up north in Iowa they are having such a dreadful time, oh me oh my!

Give my best wishes to the GM and all those critters, cheers,

Prank

Thank you for the very kind and encouraging words, Secret. Some days I just wake up and let it loose like with this one. Other stuff I write needs time to percolate. Often I have pieces of a poem and it sits for awhile, and then one day I look at the various and sundry chunks of verses and all of a sudden they arrange themselves together in ways I don't always expect. But with my work lately it has been difficult to give myself the time and space I like to have. I wish I could just write everyday but no one is willing to pay me for that....yet.

We have not been flooded like those in Iowa and other states but we have had several tornadoes strike here in Kansas. A small town about 30 miles away from us called Chapman, Ks. and the the college town in Manhattan where K-State is, were both hit hard. Most everything in Chapman was destroyed and a lot of damage in Manhattan as well. We had a tornado in our county do some damage about a week ago. It's been a little scary and I hope will end soon!

You have been chosen...

But I don't know what to do. Guess I better get busy figuring it out!
