I got a new post over on SixxRoxx's blog Needs More Cowbell and I hope you get a chance to check it out. And a Big Thanks to Miss Six for her mighty fine blog and for her patience with me!

My subject is the Incredible Composer, Guitarist, Producer, Recording Engineer, Band Leader and a very, very Hirsute Fellow, Frank Zappa!

Happy July 4th!!!!

May You Enjoy Your Independence Everyday!

And now a few pictures from my Neighborhood's 4th of July Parade. I join in the Parade once they go by the Palace. It's a 4 block walk and a great way to say Hi to Everybody and then there's a picnic in about an hour or so, Noon Mountain Time. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Find myself up a little late
Not sure why maybe something I ate
My mind races fast down the hall
So I decide to follow

A little Rain starts to fall
The candles flicker on the wall
Listening to the sounds of night
This ain't so tough to swallow

I knew that something wasn't right
But I figured it best that I sit tight
I know deep down I did my best
I got no time to wallow

Wondering when I will get my rest
My Heart it smiles and I feel blessed
We all got to pay our freight
Now I don't feel so hollow

My Drought Mantra

The Sun it bakes relentlessly
And there's hardly any trees
The air is so dry and clear that
For hundreds of miles I can see

Pike's Peak rises in the South tall
Due West up Long's Peak I can crawl
But it's so Hot and I'm so thirsty
I'm thinking I need a new Port of Call

Or a place to go just to get away
Miles from the dust I see everyday
Actually feel a little moisture
Sit on a Beach and soak up the sea spray

Now the Sun is setting and cool descends
A Dance for the Rain Gods to make amends
You never know what might work in these Times
These Dry and Dusty Plains I must transcend

Born was I under a Water Sign
Raised in the smell of sweet Virginia Pines
Still I like it on this Prairie A Mile High
A trip to the Ocean, I think I'll make it this time

My Late June Mantra

Some days I look at the Flowers and wonder
How cool it would be to be a Bee
As I meander among the Petals
Before I return to my Queen

But then I think of the Cold North Winds
And how those Flowers will expire
Now's the time to enjoy the color
For one day soon the slate is clean

So I hope when you see your Flower
You take some time to take a sniff
And marvel at all Creation
Soak it up 'cause it ain't a Dream
