The Paradox of the Prankster

Is That The Sound of The Pitter Patter of Little Feat?

Hey Everybody,

What you will hear playing in the Comments section of this  is the very 1st Little Feat song I ever heard. It was 1972 and it was on a sampler LP from Warner Bros. records called "Zapped" which cost $2. It was promotional album from Warner Bros. that featured artists influenced by or who had played with Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention. I still love the Nixon era paranoia lyrics penned by Lowell George and his smokin' Slide Guitar on 'Strawberry Flats' as much now as I did way back in that Hot July Virginia Summer when I went to the Record and Head Shop to pick up some tunes and supplies with my hard earned cashola and put this little baby on the turntable.

Two of Little Feat's original members came from The Mothers of Invention, Lowell George on Guitar and Roy Estrada on Bass. Lowell was a very gifted songwriter and I have a post on 'Needs More Cowbell' for you all to check out about Lowell George and Little Feat.

Lowell George demonstrating that a bad day
of fishing still beats even the best days at work!

Hope ya dig it!

 A Little Traveling Music...

Been playing some with the new camera and this one of your buddy Prank in The Palace is not too horrible. Still trying to figure out all the settings for light and granularity, cool stuff. So I am hoping to get some nice shots this Summer, wish me luck...

Heading out to the day job real early Monday and it will be a crazy fun week. And I figured a good way to get this fresh week kicked into high gear is with one of my all time favorite songs which actually kinda sorta mirrors my life right now. I have it posted in my comments section if you would like to have a listen. I hope you all have a great week!

Our good Friend Lucy was curious about an animal native to the Western United States, Canada and even Mexico. The Jackalope is the result of an Antelope and Jackrabbit having...errr...sexual congress and pictured below is the result. I am always happy to share these tidbits about the Great and Wondrous American West that I am so privileged to have lived in for these past 22 years.

 Friday 5

Some nice evening rains and thunderstorms this week have really greened up the Prankster's Garden A Mile High.

Blue Lobelia tucked between Purple and White Alyssum

A big pot with Alyssum, Lobelia, Marigold, Pansy and Petunia.

The Marigolds and Petunias are a little ahead but the Salvia is almost popping.

Moss Roses

The freshly shampooed Woogie Cat lounges on the one of the Palace decks.

My Friday Mantra -- Trying To Keep My Vision In Focus Edition

To view more of the Fine Work of Toni Carlton please click here.

Visions often flow in my Head
Not just Dreams sleeping in Bed
Always been that way with me
Maybe it takes more than 2 Eyes to See

I once fought those Sights
For I could not believe
That what I beheld
Was what I hoped would be

I knew I had to take some Risks
To open my Mind and Heart
Trusting to be Trusted and
Feeling some Vulnerability

But if you give Freely
With no Expectations
You can realize your Vision is true
May you find Love and Tranquility

 Happy Birthday George!

Everyday I see the headline
And it don't look any different
While the names may change
The conflict looks the same

Prognostication obfuscations
Turned into outright lies
And political manipulations
Bringing more Death to this Nation

Stay the course, another way to say
There will be lots more dying
Have we just flat run out of ideas?
Sure looks like the shit is flying

Taliban's back in Afghanistan
And lots of Afghani commerce is Opium
A new democratic Narco-State
I guess it's better but it ain't so great

And there's our Dear Friends in Baghdad
Giving amnesty to those who terrorize
Killing and maiming our Sons and Daughters
Done 24/7 right before our Eyes

So thank you George for all your work
The many long hours and your cute smirk
And as you give us another finger
Long after you are gone the stench will linger
