The Paradox of the Prankster

My Wednesday Mantra -- Inked and Smilin' Edition

Tattoo Man asked me again
Was I was really ready
Perhaps something else
That I might now prefer

I said "Nope, Let's do it now!"
My pocket's full of cash
There's no turning back
Mind and heart totally sure

So I laid down on that table
And listened to the needles
As they buzzed and whirred
I was feeling quite secure

The 1st hour flew and
Now we're on to two
Had to take me a break
Just a very brief detour

The ink was flowing well
But I was a bleeder
So I lay still and calm
For the 3rd hour to endure

People were walking all around
Some of his Buds peeked in and
We talked about the World
My tat was emerging for sure

Once he was done he told how
To keep my ink clean and safe
The next few days I may ache
To call him if I need to confer

When I got up this Morning
I had to take a look and saw
The bleeding had stopped
From the inking adventure

As I peeled back the bandage
I saw emerge was pretty much
What I had in mind and I was
Smilin' now with great pleasure

Now I gotta take care of this tat
For it's not done until it's healed
Just another step along my road
As I move towards her I treasure

My Weekend Mantra -- Ascending Edition

Now when I close my eyes
Your face it greets my rest
Brilliant smile lights it up
I really love my sleep

Up early everyday and
My energy rolling strong
The purpose is clear and
My promise I plan to keep

With every single breath
Pushing forward to my dreams
Climbing far and ever higher
Over some obstacles steep

Don't know why the time is now
Not sure how it came to be
All I know is I must answer
The call in my Heart so deep

Check Out My Post On Cowbell, Catch You Later!

Hey Everybody,

The song you hear playing right now in my comments sections is a very fine song by The Wailers that is all about determination called 'Small Axe'. The Wailers core for their ten plus years of existence was Bunny Wailer, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. The Wailers preceeded Bob Marley and the Wailers which carried on with The Wailers traditions. Bob Marley sings lead with lots of Bunny on the high end and some Peter on the low end in the background on this song recorded in 1973.

I have a post over on 'Needs More Cowbell' for you all to check out about The Wailers and Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer.

Clockwise at the top; Bob Marley, Rita Marley,
Peter Tosh with Guitar and Bunny Wailer in the Tri-color Tam.

Hope ya dig it!

My Monday Mantra -- Prank Makes Buddies on the Road Edition

On the Road late Thursday night so I
Decided to stop, stretch and get a drink
Maybe take a walk in the cool air

The refreshment I sought was
What I got and then he popped up and
I spied the Gambler right over there

He came up to me with a grin
And said "Hey there Son, How you been?"
Seems I remembered him from somewhere

As I tried to place his face
The Gambler starts talking and smiling and
I saw he was wearing fake hair

So as I studied this Old Boy's mug
He told me his views and his tales
Me digging the lessons he wanted to share

That five minute stop soon turned
Close to an hour long and I knew about then
That I heard the answer to a prayer

The Gambler was talking all about risk
How to play to reduce the likelihood
Of having nothing left on but my underwear

I thought a lot about that as I drove away
Wishing that Gambler a very Fine Day with hopes
He will rock forever long in his chair
