The Paradox of the Prankster

My Wednesday Mantra -- Diggin' It In Denver Town Edition

Stock up the shelves and
Keep your shovels handy
Cause another one's
On the way, Boys

The paradox of the snow
Is what you gonna do
When the drifts are huge
And you can't see the road

They found a man dead
Buried in his driveway
He was just shoveling
His life away

Weatherman's no help
More snow's coming soon
What we got on the ground
Sure won't be gone

So let's tip our Hats
To Ma Nature for her
Generous White Christmas
And pray the next one misses

James Brown
Rest In Peace
May 28, 1933 - December 25, 2006

This guy turned me onto funk. I remember seeing him do "I Feel Good" on a TV show called 'Shindig' and I was hooked at the tender young age of 7. Even though my tastes are more rock and roll, James Brown always was able to make me move my groove thang and for that I am eternally grateful.

Thank you, JB and we'll miss you spirit but your legacy looms as we all can get up offa that thing and try to release that pressure!

Hear the JB classic "Get Up Ofa That Thing" in the comments section.

 Merry Christmas!

Well, it's been one of the better years a Mile High here at the Prankster's Prairie Palace. Some ups and downs along the way. My Aunt GEM and her Daughter, my Cousin Nan, died from separate maladies which left my other Cousin a little lonely but she's got a great hubby and 2 very nice sons which I know helps her a lot. I got to see a few places around the USA this year which was very cool. I was able to strike up some fun conversations with all kinds of people in airports and restaurants. Met some musicians in Norfolk and got to see some great bands in Colorado and Virginia. Then there was sitting on the beach on some hot summer evenings sharing dreams with a very fine and lovely woman. I had some very interesting work, I visited with old friends, made some very nice new friends and have enjoyed this here blogging thing even though I almost stopped in June. A very good friend talked with me about it and I stuck around and was glad I did. A new year of adventure is right around the corner and I am looking forward to it.

I appreciate the kindness that all of the folks here at Blogstream have shown towards me. We all have our good moments and then we have the bad ones. But all in all, I see a lot more good here and I hope it stays that way. I blog to satisfy a tickle in my brain. I have become fond of writing little verses and occasionally do other stuff too. Fun fake news piecs, posts about music and I enjoy assisting Miss SixxRoxx on "Cowbell" and the interview projects on Lucy's blog with Hockey Mum, Miss Six, Kristin and Captain Morgan. I dig the interaction and sharing of ideas and have gotten to know some really fine people in the process. One of the greatest gifts I have ever received is your feedback, your sense of fun and the fun things I get when I read your blogs. I am blown away by the many gifted writers and loving hearts here. Sometimes a piece someone writes inspires me to write and I love when that happens. Go visit those on my favorites list please, I think they are an interesting bunch and hope you find something that makes you think or laugh. Thank you all so much for bringing so many smiles to my face.

A Prankster and his Mama on Christmas Day 2006

Unky Pranky hangs with his sweet niece AG. While little BG was a perpetual motion machine this Christmas Day so the picture of her on the sofa was the only one I had where she was looking into the camera while I was snapping the shot.

My Weekend Mantra -- A Prankster Reflects A Little Edition

Picture by Tom Eklund and you can see more pictures he took of the Aurora Borealis by clicking here.

Started out the year
Heading desert bound
Dropping into Vegas
For some work I found

Went to Northern California
Worked the Summer away
And dropped into Virginia
I really dug my stay

Then I hung in Colorado
And was enjoying the groove
Thought about what I wanted
Working on my next move

Some brand new paths
Were opening up in my mind
This angel came to me and she
Helped me see when I was blind

And now this Christmas
I'm sitting amazed at how
Fast this year flew by
All I can say is Wow

A fresh new year, yep
It's coming up fast
I just have this feeling
We're gonna kick some ass
