I remember seeing Janis Joplin with Big Brother & The Holding Company in late 1967 on TV. The thing that impressed me at the age of 10 was the energy and power of Joplin's voice because the band was not that great. I saw her on TV a few other times after she left Big Brother & The Holding Company behind. She had a few different bands over the course of the last years before she overdosed. A true force of nature, Janis Joplin's stay was all too short due to her serious troubles with drugs and alcohol. Her albums were a bit uneven I thought until "Pearl" came out but by then, she was gone. I was watching these live clips on youtube which really highlight this powerhouse of a woman and thought some of you here might dig them too.
