The Paradox of the Prankster

My Tuesday Mantra -- Paradox Resolving Edition

A Heart
A Soul
One's hopes
And dreams
Takes no roots
Can not thrive
In isolation

Your light
Your Love
More powerful
Than all
The armies
From each
And every nation

Your great gift
To me
Can not be
Understated
No longer
Do I walk alone
In desolation

My Monday Mantra -- Dry Country Edition

Photo courtesy of Dr. Ken Dewey, High Plains Regional Climate Center, October 2002.

Spring rains falling hard
Coaxing renewal into
Dry prairie grasslands

March snows never came
The desert winds replaced them
Drought could be ahead

Praying for moisture
To bring us sweet green bounty
Under Summer skies

Big December snows
Now seem so long forgotten
Just a memory

Of a Christmas past
Deeply buried subzero
A Holiday dream

Saturday Night Fever -- Some Roots Reggae For Ya!

Here's some old UB40 from 1983 that I really dig. I really liked their early 1980's LPs a lot but the later albums were not my cuppa tea. They kinda turned into a cover band at the end before they broke up in the 1990's. I dig this the flow of this cut though, it is the title cut from their 1981 album "Present Arms", and I hope you dig it too!

Present Arms - UB40 - Live in the UK

I had the the great pleasure to see one of my favorite bands, Midnite, in Denver, CO on Thursday night and then again in Boulder, CO on Friday night. These old knees are a little creaky from being out after 3 AM two nights in a row but I feel a really fine glow. Plus I love dancing in front of the stage with all the sweet Ladies at the shows. Being a fan of old school reggae I really appreciate Midnite's groove and spirit. I was fortunate enough to meet a few members of the band back in October, 2005 in Ft. Collins, CO and they were quite gracious, I ended seeing them three times during that tour. The singer's name is Vaughan Benjamin and his brother, Ron, who plays bass and keyboards and writes much of the music, I hope you enjoy the Irie sound of Midnite that I found on youtube. I got a few decent pictures from their recent Denver show too.

My Thursday Mantra -- Let's Take A Walk Edition

Come and take a walk with me
Tell me all the things you want to be
For while the journey may seem far
It's good to see you reach for the stars
Let's share all our hopes and dreams
As we bathe our Hearts in this kindly stream
Shedding all the things that hold us back
Sometimes it's a little confidence we lack
I'm here to tell you that it can be done
What you hope for can happen underneath this Sun
Don't give into the negativity and fear
Embrace the great goodness inside you, my Dear
Your courage and your spirit can win in the end
I hope you can feel all the good vibes to you I send

My Tuesday Mantra -- When Prank Jumps Over The Moonie Edition

I hear coyotes howling
So early in the morning
I guess that's the price
You pay living out here
Far in the boonies

But then there's an upside
People are so easy going
Ready to lend a hand
Even though some think
I'm just a loony

The Sun shines almost
Everyday and I can see
Mountains hundreds of miles
Way down range yet
I don't feel puny

That's why you see me
Smiling pretty much all day
Even when things go wrong
And despite the fact I don't
Look much like George Clooney
