My Wednesday Mantra -- January 1, 2014 Edition

The Wal-Mart's been empty
For near a year now
Ever since the polarity shift
Nothing here has been quite the same

After the earthquakes stopped
It wasn't too bad mostly
Except for the diseases and
There's no government to blame

Banks shut down took our money
Satellites are falling out of the Sky
Over there in China the nukes went off
Most of Asia is still in flames

Nation states ripped asunder
Continental plates split far apart
Great cities sinking into the Ocean
Nowhere to file my unemployment claims

Maybe it would have been better
If we had been hit by the Comet
The days ahead look awful hard
Sure won't be no fun and games

Some days I sit and wonder why
I'm still living when so many died
Doesn't really seem all that fair
For more reasons than I can name

But I didn't do nothing to start
These new times staring us in the face
I was happy with the way things were
Now trying to stay alive is my only aim

My Sunday Mantra -- Extra Crunchy Edition

Woke up this morning
Wrapped tight in two blankets
You know what I did see
Frost on my pumpkins
Nipping 'round my gourd
Frost on my taters and I'm
Freezing off my cob

I like to sleep
With windows wide open
Fresh Mountain breezes
Have been so luscious
But September is when
We often get previews
Of upcoming Seasons

Yesterday weatherman say
A change sure is gonna come
Best you be ready or
You may freeze your buns
No surprises when I awoke
So I just jumped right up
And put on some socks

Went outside to get
The Sunday newspaper
That was when I saw
Frost on my pumpkins

The tiny Bunnies
They just keep on a-hopping
Around the Mountain

Onto the Prairie
Millions of tiny Bunnies
Play the whole day long

The laughing Bunnies
Eating up all my garden
Never leave a tip

Most don't pay their bill
Those tiny deadbeat Bunnies
I got no salad

Thanks to the Bunnies
All the veggies are no more
Damn tiny Bunnies

Message came in
Close to the last moment
I'm ready to go
Everything was packed up

A vision unfolded
One I had almost abandoned
Here it was calling
Alive and still kicking

Puzzled at first
My mind was all scrambled
Brain cells were flying
Madly processing this information

It's twenty-thirteen
The Coast edges much closer
Many places we Love
Are very deep underwater

Cities we've known
People we like to visit
Are now long gone
Due to the changes

World's upside down
North Pole keeps on moving
If Santa's around he'll
Need a new place

No global warming
Was the cause of calamity
A new World Disorder
Some saw it coming

Calling out warning
But most never had heard
Or understood the meaning
Of what they presented

Forces beyond us
Things that exceed our comprehension
Are calling the tune
We're just here dancing

You listened before
Back in twenty oh seven
Now listen up again
Stay in those Highlands

We'll make arrangements
Take care of the details
Your mission, dear Friend
Go and tell them
